Connected Body Composition Scale
The OBE BodyScan 8 is a connected scale designed to go far beyond simple weight measurement.
Thanks to its system of 8 electrodes distributed between the platform and a measuring handle, it enables a more comprehensive body analysis than a traditional bioimpedance scale equipped only with foot contacts.
Its objective is simple: to provide a tool for regular body tracking, easy to use and directly applicable in a coaching, body recomposition, nutrition, or lifestyle monitoring approach.

8-electrode analysis
The OBE BodyScan 8 uses a total of 8 contact points :

• 4 electrodes integrated into the platform for the feet;
• 4 electrodes integrated into the handle for the hands.

When the user steps onto the scale and simultaneously grips the handle, the system thus has multiple measurement paths through the body.
This architecture is particularly interesting compared to conventional four-foot-electrode scales, which primarily measure the impedance of the lower body before extrapolating part of the results to the entire body.
The simultaneous use of hands and feet allows for a more comprehensive approach to body analysis and facilitates the estimation of different segments.

Bioelectrical Impedance
Body composition is assessed using BIA — Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis.
A very low-intensity electrical current passes through the body between the different electrodes. The resistance encountered by this signal — impedance — varies particularly depending on the amount of water and the nature of the tissues crossed.
This information is then combined with user profile data to estimate various body composition parameters.

The OBE BodyScan 8 is above all intended for tracking trends over time.
To obtain comparable data, it is preferable to take measurements under similar conditions from one session to the next: same time of day, comparable hydration, and relatively similar dietary and exercise conditions.

Multi-indicator body analysis
Depending on the final configuration of the application and firmware chosen with the manufacturer, the OBE BodyScan 8 will be able to track various indicators such as:

• body weight;
• body mass index — BMI;
• body fat percentage;
• fat mass;
• Masse musculaire;
• skeletal muscle mass;
• lean body mass;
• body water;
• visceral fat;
• subcutaneous fat;
• bone mass;
• body protein;
• estimated basal metabolic rate;
• metabolic age;
• reference weight;
• and various other indicators derived from body composition.

Some of these values correspond to algorithmic estimates calculated from weight, impedance, and the user's profile and should therefore not be equated with direct medical measurements.

Large color TFT screen
One of the distinguishing features of the OBE BodyScan 8 is its color TFT screen directly integrated into the handle.
It allows you to view the main information immediately after the measurement without having to open your phone each time.

The interface can display in particular:

• weight;
• fat mass;
• BMI;
• Masse musculaire;
• body composition indicators;
• connection status;
• battery;
• user profile.

Measuring handle with integrated electrodes

The handle connected to the platform is one of the main differences between the OBE BodyScan 8 and a conventional home scale.

It integrates:

• four conductive surfaces intended for the hands;
• the color TFT screen;
• the navigation controls;
• the electronics necessary for analysis and display.

It is directly connected to the platform and is held during the measurement.

Once the measurement is complete, it can be put down or stored with the scale.

The interest is not only to obtain an isolated value, but above all to be able to observe its evolution over the weeks and months.

Connected app
Measurements can be synchronized with a compatible mobile application.
The application notably allows you to:

• observe fat mass trends;
• monitor muscle mass evolution;
• compare different periods;
• view various body metrics;
• manage multiple user profiles.

Longitudinal tracking
The primary value of the OBE BodyScan 8 is not necessarily to obtain a single body fat measurement with absolute precision.
Its value lies above all in the ability to take repeated measurements under comparable conditions and observe trends.

This approach is particularly well-suited to monitoring a nutritional program or body recomposition.

Multi-user
The scale can manage multiple user profiles via its application. Each person thus has their own history and their own data. Depending on the final capabilities of the selected software, automatic user recognition may also allow certain measurements to be automatically associated with the corresponding profile.

Connectivity
The OBE version will be selected with connectivity enabling synchronization with a smartphone.
